Pros

Nothing. I had to go to counselling for months due to bully I had experienced.

Cons

Some people are insane in the company. People who are at the management position are driven by family members and close friends Underpaid heavily when compared with the industry average. Bullying culture, some crazy managers are used to harassing people, very intense. Management is a disaster, poor leadership. They disrespect their employees. Micromanagement on everything. No support or help when you actually need them.

If there really has been a bullying case in our Melbourne office I would like it reported please. As the CEO I can be contacted on gtilton@dgitsystems.com directly and will handle and complaints confidentially. We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying and will issue formal warnings. Also, when did you work for DGIT Systems? We haven't had any Melbourne BA's leave us for quite some time. If you really were a BA for us you will be aware that all BA's are hired based on skill and that we have an entry test that all applicants complete.

Pros

This is a company of staunch believers. The personality traits of being assertive, exhibiting confidence, do as you are told, don't ask many questions, follow the rulebook or script a rulebook for others to follow are highly valued in the workplace. The emphasis/reward is based on obedience rather than intelligence. The hiring tests, code reviews and design meetings are a test of obedience rather than critical or analytical thinking. If you are from a education system or place which promotes believing or enjoy playing/following rule based sports which promotes a fixed mindset, you will find this place wonderful.

Cons

The assertive reinforcement of beliefs by shaming one's work with lack of analysis and discussion might seem as compulsive and bullying to many. The expectation is you do what you are told to do with perseverance without thinking/questioning about why. The company does a summative assessment of tasks. This type of assessment falls short on measuring a development engineer's intellectually demanding activities compared to the tasks of qa, ba, ops, ux designer and line manager. for example, someone who succeeded in 10th grade is seen positively compared to a phd dropout. This impacts an engineer's career progression compared to other roles and expect to be supervised by someone who might not be a good fit to supervise an engineer. If you value analysis based, discussion based, experiential software development, diversity in thought and an analytical approach to engineering problems. The company cannot logistically support such activities and you might not find the work fulfilling here.

Thank-you for the feedback. Yes with 70 service provider customers we value establishing best practices and implementing software solutions in a consistent manner. We also highly value team members who innovate to improve our practices and there are also some development roles within DGIT where creativity is less constrained. I accept your feedback that we have some over zealous members of the team who when driven by their passion for what we do can get overly assertive.
