Pros

Colleagues are typically great and most are knowledgeable. You are able to define your own work/life balance.

Cons

Nepotism - Zero career progression, unless you are best friends with senior management Lack of any direction, shows no understanding of the sector. Teflon shoulders and pass the buck trend is prominent between departments Silo working HR team are incompetent and do not support staff Bums on seats mentality - If you're not present, you're not working. No training, you need to be self-sufficient at Daikin UK to survive, Poor staff retention, over hiring in a declining sector. Majority old white male company, very backwards mentality. Wrong people in important roles. Non-existent pay structure.

Pros

Nice learning about the equipment and helping people. Nice office environment and team.

Cons

No chance of career development. No recognition or reward for hard work. Micromanagement. Detached from real world activities (computer only) no connection to projects. Petty behaviour from management team. No respect once notice is handed in regardless of previous performance. Huge salary gap between the workers who manage and design all HVAC projects compared to management and sales team who have minimal input to outgoing proposals. (All generated revenue). Bad hours and no benefits.

Pros

Nice colleagues. No micro management.

Cons

Management is non-existent. Do not expect any support what so ever. The first 3 days I started I had no computer, no phone, no software installed. It was only when I decided to rummage around through filing cabinets I came across Daikins dedicated IT helpdesk number. 3 hours later I had it all setup and running. It's the most inefficient operation I've ever experienced. On top of all this, the 'manager's' simply delegate jobs to other people as they either 1) do not understand it themselves or 2) do not want to understand it themselves. They then expect you to make the processes more efficient but they do not bother to take the time in analyzing the weaknesses themselves and fairly quantify issues with a view to resolving them. On top of all this, I witnessed 3 engineers leave in 2 months and I was the 3rd to fill the position I had (2 before me were "let-go" - all this within 6 months). It was simply comical to work there. Worst place I have ever worked.
