Pros

Casual work environment Free coffee and Tea

Cons

I was working at this company in the social media department and it was one of the worst managed places I've ever worked at. People were getting fired all the time and if you are expecting to grow at this company don't hold your breath. If you're a female, don't even bother applying, you're never going to get the same pay as guys. Good luck to all the current people still working there. I doubt anything's changed.

Facts are always important to share. Our Influencer Marketing Team has an 80% retention rate for team members. Female leadership is a strong component of Dastmalchi. Sales, Product Development, Logistics, Customer Service and 50% of Brand Managers are led by strong female staff members. Only 2 leaders in the company were recruited from outside of the team; all others have been promoted from within.

Pros

Your coworkers are nice and friendly. Kind of flexible hours.

Cons

This is by far one of the worst places I have worked for. First of all the company has no direction. They started with beauty products and then added a lot of weird products that don't fit. I personally think it makes the company look scattered. Also the products they offer are very cheap and always break. They mark up the prices and ALWAYS offer a discount. It makes the company look like a discount company. The CEO has no idea what is happening in his own company. He likes to show off his new 'insert fancy car brand here' to all his employees that get paid awfully. And when sales are not good he will schedule a meeting at the end of the day and he won't give advice or help problem solve... instead he will look at his phone and just say inspirational quotes. I was also told to work late so the owner could see we all worked hard...? Even though he was barely there. The co founder was also aggressive... walking around the office being loud and trying to intimidate people. They also love to put you on the spot. No communication! Also they give no training whatsoever. It is very sink or swim. And when you do ask for help... no one really knows how to help or they give VERY little guidance. There is also no room for growth or raises. The only thing I learned here was how to put on a fake smile and act like the place was so fun....

Pros

Dogs are allowed. Mostly just Bruno, but others have asked and been allowed to bring their dogs in. The other employees are great people.

Cons

-Raises don't happen. Don't expect it -If you don't fit into the culture, bye! -Hope you like sales. Its all the company cares about -Upper management are like puppet masters. They do what they want, when they want. Out of stock on an item, don't expect it to be marked as such on our website. Poor customers might wait weeks with no communication from the company. Oh, and the uppers will wonder why there are so many refunds happening, and why customer service is slammed. -There is constant fear of getting let go. Job security is not something that is felt around here unless you are in upper management. - We get paid vacation time but uppers (particularly one) make you feel really guilty for taking time off.

All feedback is welcome and appreciated; especially the type of feedback that exposes areas where growth is needed. We are a performance driven product company that compensates its team based on their achievement of goals; management of KPI’s and overall value to the customer and the company. Raises are given for performance; not based on time worked. Vacation and PTO are encouraged. Life exists outside of work; and we want the team to thrive personally. To address a few of the concerns listed in this review: * “Raises don't happen. Don't expect it” Reviews are conducted monthly. Performance bonuses and commissions are earned for more often than base salary increases. Base increases are discussed in annual reviews and are based on performance. * “If you don't fit into the culture, bye!” This is an interesting thing to say as a negative about an organization. Company culture is a critical element of success everywhere. In a situation where your personal culture does not match the overall culture of the company you will always find yourself feeling stressed and pressurized. This is definitely not unique to Dastmalchi. * “Hope you like sales. Its all the company cares about” Sales of our products to our customers and the impact the products have in those customers lives are why we exist as a company. Glassdoor provides a great way for employees, prospective, current and former to engage anonymously in providing feedback on an organization. We appreciate the opportunity to engage in this forum.
