      Steer clear - long hours, not enough £ reward

      Pros

      Nada. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Diddly-squat.

      Cons

      Salary does not match up to long hours of 9-6 every day. The London office is like a sinking ship with so many employees - partners, associates, paralegals and secretaries all leaving one after the other. Staff are not appreciated. There is no morale here & the managing partner does not seem to care. No progression in this firm whatsoever.

      Pros

      The company offers nice gestures of appreciation like free meals a couple of times a year and the odd voucher for a free or cheap lunch in the staff canteen. The secretarial team is friendly.

      Cons

      It's very stuffy and unsociable. The solicitors don't really speak to anyone. No one smiles or says "Hello" when passing you by. Even people you've sat down and chatted with you will ignore you the next time you see them.

      Pros

      Kind friendly staff. Doing good, if patchy, work in various areas. Lots of opportunities to get involved with extra-curricular options.

      Cons

      No organisation - you are completely dependent on which partner adopts you. Most partners are not interested in team-building but in feathering their own nests. They are not interested in engaging with the team. IT is antiquated. Zero flex in terms of pay, promotion and flexible working to deviate from the US diktats. You are unlikely to do 1800+ hours which is fine unless you want to progress - partnership requires high billings.
