Pros

Working in the Research and Development (R&D) department at Design Tech Homes has been a career-defining experience. With a Master’s in Structural Engineering, I have found this to be the perfect place to apply high-level technical theory to real-world residential and commercial projects. The company truly empowers its engineers to pursue their passions. I have been able to deeply engage in Foundation Design (specifically PT Slabs) and Superstructure analysis. The workflow here is cutting-edge; we utilize a sophisticated tech stack including: BIM & Modeling: Revit and Arkance for precision structural framing. Engineering & Analysis: RFEM for complex structural design. Optimum Design: I’ve developed custom Excel tools that collaborate span data with current market material prices and various design codes (WFCM, IRC, IBC, NDS, and ASCE SDPWS) to ensure our designs are both safe and cost-efficient. What makes this company stand out is that the owner and leadership don't just "talk" about innovation—they reward it. Performance is recognized through consistent financial growth, including increments and bonuses, which makes the hard work in R&D feel incredibly valued.

Cons

The level of detail required for our "Optimum Design" approach is intense and requires constant focus. It is a fast-paced environment that demands both high-level engineering knowledge and BIM proficiency, which may be a steep learning curve for some.
