The company is on a verge of collapse

Pros

Good for young people who like to be sent to developing countries for adding a line to their resume and do not expect a career at Development Gateway.

Cons

The company is basically dying. A series of mistakes by senior management lead to a bad financial situation. Many long-time employees have been fired, more will probably follow soon. Management is trying to act like nothing is happening but they are fooling only the kids they hired recently to bring costs down.

Pros

Staff have a great deal of latitude, autonomy and room for initiative. Work with a lot of big players in international development. Great team to work with. Lots of travel. Opportunities for junior staff to take on a great deal of responsibility and do interesting things.

Cons

The flipside of latitude is that you have to be able to take initiative. Workload can be a bit intense at times. Have to be ready to work with international teams/clients, which can affect schedules.

Pros

People are awesome and friendly. Always lots of cake on birthdays, team lunches (in the nice casual way, not boring mandatory kind) The work we get to do is fulfilling and exciting. Good opportunities for travel. Is run like a social enterprise more than a non-profit, keeps things sustainable, and people working hard. You always feel like colleagues are working as hard as you are. Pay and benefits are good for a non-profit, but not on par with private, but if money is what drives you then it's probably not a good fit anyway.

Cons

The team is distributed across the world. half in D.C and the rest in Argnetina, Romania, and a couple scattered around. It makes travelling fun and exciting, but means a lot of tele-working and communicating instead of in person which takes some getting used to.
