I have been working at Discover full-time

    Pros

Global company but with the advantages of small company where most people know each other in the UK.

    Cons

Senior leadership (based in Chicago) can be very US centric.
Also, in a period of transformation so employees must be comfortable with such.

    Advice to Management

Hire more senior leaders outside the US to drive more global thinking across the organisation.

I have been working at Discover full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The DMS program is working to change the way that Discover works. A lot of opportunities to be your own boss when it comes to setting up a change management program that will work well for your assigned division. Very trusting leadership allows for the chance to run with your ambitions.

    Cons

It is not clear what my professional future will look like after DMS is fully installed and sustainable. Better education around how to advance within the company.

I worked at Discover full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Growth, awesome managers, great entry level pay.

    Cons

The call enter positions are exactly that, call center, its mind numbly work taking one call after the next. Taking upwards of 120 calls per day.

I have been working at Discover full-time

    Pros

    Work life balance
    Autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit
Discover Management System is trying to enable teams, promote coaching and development, and process discipline.
    True customer focus
Competitive but in a healthy way
    Nice campus
    Takes care of good talent

    Cons

Director-level and up lacking fundamental leadership skills in Consumer Bank. Top down management style and common for VP level getting into minutia of the work. Run like a factory, numbers are everything for the senior leaders.
People don’t understand the strategy of the company as it translates to business units.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in change programs like DMS. Invest in your leaders and have high expectations for how they create a high performing team. Simplify the strategy and tell the story to everyone—it’s what we need to take this great company to the next level!

    Advice to Management

Please provide more flexibility and options or those who are caretakers for sick family members.
