Pros

Comparatively the basic salaries are very strong, but HR say this is so they can attract people. The premise of the product is good but implementation sometimes falls very short of the mark. Under delivering for a number of customers and lacking some key current requirements.

Cons

Very few teams have clearly define playbooks and processes so few team members know how to do things. There is no investment in time to improve and move forward so the same issues keep coming up and the same results appear. The saleable 'offerings', other than the product, are often without substance behind them and delivered on the fly, often poorly. They didn't have enough people before shedding 25% of their workforce so I expect the level of service to go down. Little to no guidance, support or objectives. I would not recommend this as a place to work for the foreseeable future. They are and will continue to push customers hard for more revenue.

Pros

Domino Data Lab offers a generous compensation package which, while necessary to offset some challenges, remains highly competitive within the industry. The company excels at delivering cutting-edge technical solutions. This technical prowess is a significant draw for those passionate about working with advanced technology. Despite the shifting focus, Domino has a history of introducing innovative solutions aimed at various aspects of data science and AI, which keeps the work environment dynamic and cutting-edge. A knowledgeable and skilled workforce, particularly within the technical teams, ensures a strong product foundation. Additionally, the company provides flexibility in remote work options and fosters a mostly supportive culture among peers.

Cons

There is a lack of effectiveness in marketing, business development and analyst relations, leading to challenges in generating awareness and subsequently impacting the sales pipeline. This has made it harder to meet quota consistently. Even with a strong compensation structure, the actual potential to earn has decreased due to pipeline issues. The company struggles with ensuring successful deployments for new customers, especially in cases where the customer lacks strong internal capabilities to leverage the platform effectively. This has led to some high-profile failures in customer engagements. The shift from focusing on a liquidity event to profitability has created uncertainty about long-term goals. Critical topics such as potential acquisitions were not adequately addressed at key events, leaving employees uncertain about the company’s future. The rapid evolution from focusing on development infrastructure to various other areas like MLOps, hybrid multicloud, GenAI, and more recently AI governance, has led to messaging that lacks focus, potentially confusing both employees and customers. The quiet launch of new products indicates a possible lack of commitment or clarity in strategic direction.
