Pros

The people I worked with were great. I walked away with lasting friendships. I also learned a lot about the industry that I didn't know before. Burt is great.

Cons

There's a reason EMJ is seeing one person a week leave the company. They pride themselves on being servant leaders but no one seems to know what that means. "Leadership" is so inconsistent and unprofessional. No one in leadership had my back when there was a problem and I had to fight my own battles...even within the company. There is a "good-ol-boy" atmosphere and if you don't happen to be in that club, you're on your own.

Some Improvement Needed

Pros

There are a few initiatives that EMJ has rolled out in the past few years that they're really trying to get their employees to believe in. I think these ideas are great for our industry, and they should be the guidelines to how people live their personal AND professional lives. For my position, life-work balance is excellent. Our EVP allows us to have a flexible work schedule, but highly stresses that the work (and hours) must be done each week.

Cons

There seems to be a bit of sexism in my branch. No one from our other offices would ever know it when they visit, but having worked for EMJ for over a year, I witness it everyday and it's difficult (and awkward) to voice your opinion, or to be promoted to a position that you've a) expressed an interest in; and b) are more qualified for than someone hired outside of the company. While management says there is always an open door policy, their doors seem to be closed a lot, or they're never available. It can create an awkward moment weeks or months after something has occurred.
