Pros
-Travel to really cool locations
-Meet interesting people
-This type of traveling builds relatability, allowing you to build rapport with basically anybody.
-Pay was good
-Head of OSI department at that time (unsure about now) was absolutely great to work for
-Once you get the hang of software, and how to interface software and hardware, the job was exceedingly easy
-At the time, cash per diem
-No need for apartment or car so virtually no expenses
-Rack up airline, hotel, and rental car points and miles like no other.
Cons
-Lot of travel. You may never want to travel again. Exhausting.
-From OSI position, can only receive lateral promotion. Lack of expenses and cash per diem means that you may receive a promotion in title or salary but the actual money you will earn when you go "off the road" is less
-Unless you can fit hobbies or close personal relationships in a suitcase, you basically forego them.
