If you’ve been persuaded to work at Acumen, good luck. Do not spend more than a year of your life here. It is not worth your mental health, sanity, and self-respect. After working at Acumen for a year or so, it quickly became apparent that the problems at the top of the company trickle down to all of the managers. The CEO doesn't know their employees, and I have witnessed him talk very poorly about people in the company to other people in the company. Major red flag.
Managers are promoted because of their technical skills and not their people skills.
There are many very awkward people who may be brilliant at data analysis but do not know how to relate to other people and lead a team, and this is one of the major downfalls of the company. Work-life balance? At Acumen that doesn’t exist. You might be put on a team where you receive urgent texts at 9pm on a Friday and are made to feel bad for taking a break to eat dinner in the evenings. Don’t let Acumen try to make you feel valued or special when they offer ‘bonuses’. If this company cared about their employees they would offer appropriate benefits. At Acumen, you are not a person or even an employee, you are a cog. You’re a highly disposable cog in a machine because you can be quickly replaced by the plenty of other thirsty graduates desperate to work anywhere they can get an offer. You will be replaced by people who don’t have enough self-respect and awareness to realize they are being taken advantage of.
