Cons
As a result of the decisions and the approach of the management AirHelp has became everyone’s playground on the corporate market of Tricity. Everyone starts and experiments here: directors have made multiple decisions without any data collection or analysis of appropriate research, which later lead to demotivation and financial losses. Additionally almost none of the supervisions, managers, team leaders or even senior team leaders has prior managerial experience and frequently they don’t have training or proper preparation for their duties. They don’t even have any mentor to learn from, as all of them are just starting their career as managers, trying to do their best according to them or try to follow some blog articles or books which they've read somewhere. On the bottom of the ladder we have agents and employees for whom AirHelp often is the first job in their lifetime, straight after the graduation. Even the new and fresh CEO himself mentioned publicly: “Truth is that we have been hiring anyone off the street so far”. As a result of all of the mentioned facts, the typical problems of every corporation are incredible magnified here due to lack of experience and perspective or childishness. It is said that on the private meetings even one of the Senior Team Leaders in OPS department has stated, that “we mostly work with children in AirHelp and need to be careful with everyone here”. You can experience the non-professional management on all layers of the ladder in everything, including the fact that money is being spent like water. Most expensive offices, TV commercial etc., even tough since its beginning AirHelp hasn’t earned almost any money. The final outcome is that it lead the company on the verge of bankruptcy. The yearly/quarterly evaluation, which so far usually lead to pay rises is mostly written according to the sympathy level of your manager towards you. Reality, effort put in, ambition or achievements loose their importance in case your manager dislikes you, for example, for your characteristics or other matters which have nothing to do with the business. HR in AirHelp offers no real support, as it’s famous for their rookie mistakes and incompetence. One of the additional demotivators is the amount of lies diplomatically prepared by management whenever there’s some news, changes or procedures happening. The promises are broken systematically and irresponsibly, no matter what time they were made: during the recruitment, onboarding or employment. You cannot count on any word given in AirHelp, even the one confirmed on paper. When it comes to the OPS department, the quantity requirements and expectations are arranged so illogically and disproportionately amongst the teams, that the moment you start comparing them, it drives you crazy and leads to fatigue. The fact is that more and more agents are no longer afraid to talk about it out loud. Moreover, the requirements in AirHelp exist as unclear and unfair outlines, which are diversely interpreted by each manager and almost none of them is ever satisfied, you’re not good, unless you exceed the metrics by… that’s the problem! It’s not even clear how much: 20% or 50%? It depends which team did they put you in. The system which should motivate you to exceed the “minimum” is designed to offer you nothing more than the pat on the back from your boss. It takes just one unsatisfactory month out of 12 to forget about the higher pay rise… Oh wait, what pay rise? The whole pay rise plan in OPS has been recently cancelled and the new one gives you pay rise just in case your manager really likes you and is provided with some pay rise budget to distribute amongst the whole team. Additionally to all of this we have the infamous practice of getting rid of employees when their trail contract is finishing under any pretext managers are able to find or even create. It’s not worth coming to AirHelp even for your own development, as all you can expect from this company, is that first they are going to make the most of you and your skills, then your superiors or colleagues will claim your ideas and initiatives as their own and in the end they will get rid of you the moment you start showing that something is not right for you or you don’t like what they’re doing. Lots of the older, positive reviews about AirHelp are simply no longer suitable to the present situation of the company. At the moment I would avoid AirHelp like the plague and lets see how long will it survive, living on the investors money.
