Pros
After many years at Alcon: Great products, great and hard working people in roles lower than gjfa3 and great customers.
Cons
The ship is on the wrong way - when I started 2008, there was a high level of trust - directors, sen. dir. and VPs were acting with a high level of respect. With Novartis a lot of this was destroyed. Since the spin-off there was a high motivation from older employees to come back to a more "Family-Business" style. Trying to give employees freedom and empower them to act. But this was more and more cut down since 2020. When the new CFO started, we went back into the "unrealistic expections" way of working. Where I can save money? Cut people, bring dry grass to fire (price increases...) was now back. I would not recommend Alcon, if you plan to work in a Sen. Manager, A.Dir or Director role anymore. (Surgical) The backoffice goes more and more to AGS Centers (Mexico, Poland, ...) and no one of my old friends still working in Alcon is happy. Sen. Dirs are selling there teams, just to look good... There were many respected and well performing people fired and lay-offs still go on! (EMEA) In some key positions, people with no knowledge were promoted. ("My new manager does not understand my work" - Multiple times I got this from active employees)
