I worked at Alcon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good bonus/benefits, strong development framework, however promises are not followed through

    Cons

Poor development opportunities. Management do not place trust in their team. Very negative atmosphere when behind budget-blame culture

    Advice to Management

Support colleague objectives, improve autonomy and trust

    Pros

Great work, great people, good money.

    Cons

For the world's largest eye care company, eye insurance for employees is feeble at best.

    Advice to Management

Learn from past mistakes. Be honest and realistic.

I have been working at Alcon full-time

    Pros

Good industry experience doing real engineering projects

    Cons

Can get boring if there aren't a lot of projects. Not a lot of people my age (early 20's) here.

    Pros

Job is easy in a medical device setting. Clean work environment. OK benefits and voluntary overtime.

    Cons

12 hour shifts for production workers is not for everyone. Getting hired on can take up to a year. Some coworkers don't have good work ethics.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the hard workers and hire them faster before they leave for other jobs. Training needs to be better for new hires.

    Pros

Many new product launches; organizational changes are happening.

Less diversity allowed in the team or ideas; few managers care about developing their employees.

    Advice to Management

Please go to your employees at the lower level of your organization to see their morale level, and what they think what is going well or not so well in the company.

I have been working at Alcon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and amenities on campus (i.e. cafe, gym, car detail service, CU, etc.) Can progress fairly quickly once you're aligned with the right people

    Cons

Takes a lot of energy and effort to get things done with all of the bureaucracy. Political alignments are a necessary evil

    Advice to Management

Restore Alcon to what it used to be
