Pros

The pay is good (18.00 hourly). You can make up your own work hours

Cons

Work is extremely unpredictable. One week you can have 40 hours the next you only have 3 hours. VERY unprofessional H.R. department and team leader. Was laidoff with NO explanation (can only figure it's because they are extremely slow for work during summer). Also never received a phone call to tell my I was laidoff. THEY LAID ME OFF VIA SNAIL MAIL!!! I never even had a clue I was about to be let go. Management is very poor. They feel the need to intimidate as a manager. Having been a manager myself I know this doesn't work. The only thing it does is encourage employees to have very little contact with you. Was told we would get bonuses across the board but managment decided to change the "rules" along the way. Some bonuses depended on all employees meeting goals which needless to say weren't met. Some people have low work ethics therefore the bonus goal was unobtainable from the start. Was also told they were giving raises across the board only to change the rules once again. Instead of telling me I wasn't getting a raise they just ignored me. I never heard another word about it again.

Pros

When the work is there is a good place to get your feet wet as a coder. The salary is low while you are slow but once you get your speed up it is ok.

Cons

Pay is extremely low unless you are very fast and if you are fast enough to make good pay you won't make your 95% accuracy. The worst thing is you will be working your tail off and then suddenly there will be no work. I am a current remote coder, at least as far as being able to log on to the systems, but I haven't worked in over 2 months with no explanation from management and no communication about expected work in the future. In fact the so-called advocate I was assigned won't even respond to me. It is not fair that you are laid off and they don't even tell you. They just don't give you any work. A few of the coders with the highest QA scores are getting a little bit of work but most of us get none. Very poor communication and very poor consistency. They won't even tell you if you need to look for another job. Poor ongoing training.
