Pros

* Career Growth Opportunities: There are many opportunities to grow your career, especially if you’re proactive. AWS encourages internal mobility, so you can explore different roles and teams if you’re interested. * Compensation & Benefits: AWS offers competitive salaries, along with strong benefits packages, including stock options, health insurance, and retirement plans. The compensation is generally considered to be very attractive, especially in technical roles. * Smart and Driven Colleagues: The talent pool at AWS is impressive. Working alongside people who are highly skilled and motivated can be both inspiring and rewarding.

Cons

* Return to office 5 days a week!! * Work-Life Balance: Like many companies in the tech industry, AWS can have high expectations, and this sometimes leads to long hours or work-life balance challenges. Some teams may have better work-life balance than others, but it really depends on the role and manager. * High Pressure and Stress: AWS is a fast-paced environment, and sometimes the pressure to perform can be intense. This can lead to stress for some employees, particularly those in client-facing or product roles. * Management Variability: While there are great managers at AWS, the quality of leadership can vary widely across teams. Some employees report feeling disconnected or unsupported by their direct managers, which can impact job satisfaction.

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
