It has been made abundantly clear that the new CEO and board care more about the shareholders than the people working for them. How do you expect people to have loyalty to this company when you treat them like dirt? The soul of this company is dead and gone, thanks to the new CEO and board. The we paddle as one tagline is a lie; you have made it clear we paddle as one to make more money for the shareholders. I understand that layoffs happen, but there is a right way to do them and a wrong way. The way AppFolio handled layoffs was just cruel. The following is how it happened… an emergency company meeting was called with an hour's notice. Everyone was told that we are not profitable and that Appfolio was reducing its workforce by 9%. We were instructed that we would be sent an email in the next 45 minutes confirming our employment status. People that had worked for this company for 10+ years were given notice via an email and not even the courtesy of a Zoom meeting! The executive team caused mass panic by making everyone wait while refreshing their email for 45 mins instead of notifying people ahead of the meeting. The way the leaders of AppFolio approached layoffs was ruthless, cruel, and traumatizing. There is no other way to describe it. This was thought through so poorly! Shame on the leaders who thought this was an okay way to approach this awful situation. I don’t know how you sleep at night. The CEO ranted on about how this was the hardest day of his life, etc. but were pay cuts from the hundreds of thousands in compensation that the CEO and C-suite executives considered to make us more profitable? Nope! They instead chose to take it out on innocent hard-working people, so save me your rant about what a toll this has taken on you while you still make heaps of money and aren’t going to have to worry about how you pay your mortgage. AppFolio advertises career growth for everyone in their recruiting advertising, but it’s false. Unless someone leaves, there are no individual growth paths except taking a handful of classes, etc. The career growth for everyone slogan is a lie too. Like many places, your success depends entirely on your manager, director, and leadership. Some managers and leaders are amazing, and some are downright awful. There is no regular evaluation of leaders. AppFolio is known for underpaying its workers and not competing with market rates. Raises are minimal under the new CEO, so if you are being hired by the company, negotiate as high as possible! To the leaders and board of Appfolio, we expected more from you, and are truly disappointed by how you handled layoffs.
