APP is an aggressive company that makes bold moves, quick decisions, and innovates in its industry. The family member leadership is hard working and cares deeply about the success of the company. There is a long-term commitment to loyal employees. They have done impressive work in remote areas and have an uncanny ability to grab possibility. The Chairman was a genuine visionary, bringing quality papermaking back to China at a time when China's business environment was ripe for growth. There are a lot of really intelligent capable committed people that work at APP, coming from all over the World. The people and the size of the platform were the nicest things about working at APP.

It is a very demanding work environment, 24/7 full on. Work takes precedent over other things in life, for those of us that enjoy that it is a plus for others it slowly eats away at their quality of life. Because of the multi-cultural environment in challenging situations there are some same nationality "cliques" that form that create internal barriers. The job demands high resilience and flexibility. At the end of the day you report to the owners and it is their company, the reasons for direction change that they choose are often not very transparent although when you do have visibility into a situation there are typically good reasons.
