Pros

Good work culture among peers. FSM product suite is a huge application, all under one umbrella of Alliance. Lot of learning opportunity in terms of domain.

Cons

Backend development technologies are archaic. Working in this for long term will reduce your marketability in terms of development job. Software is complex and modules are interconnected making it harder for onboarding of new employees. There is no proper support from team leads in terms of completing tasks. Figure it out yourself is how you’ll probably end up getting your tasks done. Do not expect any appreciation. Anything to demoralize employees has been done over and over again. Annual raises never happen and when you do get a raise it never matches the mountain of responsibility dumped on you. It doesn’t matter how you do your job. If you like patronizing meaningless talk, you will like the review process. Any change you suggest will be shot down. 3 positives and 3 negatives is the standard for reviews. But surprisingly manager performance is nobody’s concern. HRs can’t handle management because of they are stubborn and doesn’t consider change. Of course there is preferred group of people management seems to treat preferentially, just in case you’re not demotivated enough, just know that. Bonuses are given to select people and none of the policies are straightforward. Promotions are rare and given out in desperation to retain staff. Work from home never happens and even if you get it, your manager annoys you enough by asking for hourly status, you never ask for it again. You take sick days for kids, they’ll question you why your spouse isn’t taking the day off. I could go on... As a short term gig this isn’t bad. But it all depends on where you’re coming from and where you want to get to career wise.

Pros

I have been working at Astea for less then a year, but can already see that the other reviews here are not representative of the current work culture. The office has a very laid back feel, as common among other comparable software companies. Management is very involved with all employees and looks for input on how they can help you succeed in your role and career. Very entrepreneurial in style, you are allowed to do you work without being micromanaged, and collaboration with other groups at the firm is encouraged. Overall, my experience to date has been great.

Cons

The employee benefits could be better, but that only applies if you utilize your health plan a lot. Other then that the benefits are good for the occasional visit to the doctor. Additionally, more options to work from home or flexible working arrangements would be appreciated.

Pros

We have a diverse group of bright individuals ranging from junior developers to senior architects (some of the smartest individuals I've ever met). There is great opportunity to learn and grow despite previous reviews. Employees are treated fairly and salary and benefits are competitive for the area. Our products are built upon decades of domain knowledge and is hands-down the best FSM product on the market.

Cons

There is an initial learning curve in regards to the domain logic and development standards as with any organization; however, due to the complexity of the application suite, some employees become overwhelmed during the initial six months. My advice to new employees is to stay the course, utilize senior resources, and spend time to study because you are a large part of the company's success. I urge existing employees to step out of their comfort zone, collaborate, and learn new technologies to become a stronger team.
