Pros

Get to work on some cool technology. Most of the non-management staff are friendly, fun & easy to work with. The company embraced a fully remote work environment during Covid, which allowed hiring from all over the US. Unlimited PTO. Pay ranges are good.

Cons

Senior management talks about breaking down walls/bureaucracy, but that is mostly just talk. Over the last few years, it feels like Senior Mgmt has lost touch with the workers. Don't start questioning why certain policies are in place, as it relates to HiTrust & Hipaa, or suggest they need to be changed. Start talking about changing policies, and everyone comes out saying they can't be changed because of one of those two. So decisions on policies made years ago are still in place and staff go through hoops to provide the evidence for these on a yearly basis, when they make absolutely no sense anymore. There doesn't seem to be any definitive planning on company wide projects - the goals/vision/northstar are platitudes and guides only. This manifests itself in ADHD by management on what's important "at this time" and constantly pivoting every few months. The CISO is the worst offender, never wants to plan, just constantly wanting to work on pet projects, or whatever he wants at that time. The worst is that it appears that if you get on the CISO's bad side, or wants you gone, he has no problems using PIPs & finding "evidence" to support terminating you. Seen it happen to multiple people over the last few years. He's great at managing up, but it does feel like he's a bully to his subordinates & others. Being in IT (non-development), it's hard to connect the dots of what you're working on to the company's goals/vision/northstar. Middle Management has a really hard time to connect those dots & explain it. There's a vacuum of leadership on the IT side that starts with the CTO. I've seen & heard where his direct reports tell him things, and he doesn't respond, or he won't make a decision unless pressed by multiple people.

We genuinely appreciate your feedback as it helps us identify areas for improvement and ensure that Availity remains a great place to work. We're delighted to hear that you found opportunities to work with exciting technology and that you enjoyed the camaraderie among your colleagues. Embracing a remote work environment during the pandemic was a significant shift, and we're pleased that it enabled us to broaden our talent pool and accommodate diverse geographical locations. Additionally, we understand the importance of offering competitive pay ranges and providing benefits like unlimited PTO to support our associates' well-being and work-life balance. We are sorry to hear about your less-than-positive experiences regarding your perceptions of our policies and management style. We value open communication and transparency at Availity, offering multiple channels for associates to share their ideas with leadership, and it's disheartening to learn that there are perceived barriers to questioning or suggesting policy changes. Regarding your specific concerns about leadership, we take such matters seriously. We are committed to fostering a respectful and supportive work environment for all associates. For any personnel-related issues, we encourage all our associates to contact our responsive Human Resources department or utilize our anonymous feedback channels to provide insights or suggestions on how we can enhance your experience at Availity. Thank you again for your contributions during your time with us, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Great culture and people. As long as you’re doing your job and producing, I have not run into any micromanaging etc. work life balance is awesome

Cons

Silo’s are common but getting better each day. That can happen with remote companies. Lots of new products and changes with new leadership etc so need to adapt

Pros

Lots of chances for growth internally if you’re willing to grind and make connections. Most people are collaborative and generally the culture among individual contributors is good. Lots of good job perks. Fully WFH for most roles.

Cons

Compensation will almost always be below industry standard. Recent leadership changes are killing morale and the culture is definitely shifting. Lots of siloing and lack of transparency between teams.
