Pros
- Some key faculty members who are good in their field - Reputation of the university is high outside - Facilities at the university are good - People are kind in general and provide levy with respect to personal issues or health concerns. - If you are looking for a place where you listen to senior management, do what is told to you and just be with minimal increment every year till retirement with 0 scope for growth then this is it! (P.S: this review is only for School of Continuing Education and University Resource Center and not other schools)
Cons
- Went through a 6 month recruitment process where the picture painted was that the post would give teaching, training and research opportunities, however post joining the expectation was to train most of the time and no teaching or research. So if you are joining get clarity on your role in the beginning itself. - From outside, the university portrays a liberal culture of growth and autonomy, however when inside it has its own hierarchical structures and favouritism. - Partiality and high preference given to people working in the university for long time - Not open to new ideas, only if the management likes you, things will happen otherwise you will be sidelined and not given any opportunities. - No encouragement for personal growth as an academician. - The title was Assistant Professor however I haven't taught one class to students my entire work duration, it was training only to external stakeholders. - Very old school work culture, more working hours=working hard, work culture promotes working on weekends and late nights, and the management encourages and praises these practices. - Travelling for about 10-15 days a month is expected, more you travel for training, you are considered dedicated and sincere. - Salary not up to UGC scale or standards so be ready to get a low pay irrespective of your experience.
