Pros

No pros for currently working here

Cons

- Horrible Leadership, flaky and untrustworthy - Unfair and nepotistic promotion culture. People get promoted even if they're not ready for promotion. - Dodgy staff and team culture, your privacy and individuality is not respected at all! -unrealistic performance expectations. An excel score determines your worth here and not your actual expertise. - Graduates beware, you will have no work for at least 70% of the year. You will sit idle, not get enough work because they don't win enough clients even though they try to sell it to you in interviews and team meetings. - No authentic and genuine care is given for employee wellness. - Remuneration is definitely not on par with industry standards. In a nutshell they're a second tier company that can only wish upon a lucky start to ever compete with the likes of the big four. In my honest opinion, don't waste your time even of you're desperately looking for a job, if you join BDO SA, particularly the jhb office, you'll leave there mentally, emotionally, and just overall miserable and worse off than when you were before joining them. The jhb office in particular has the worse sort of leadership a corporate could ever have, all talk and mind you very big talk, but in reality, no substance to any of it.

Pros

Compensation is OK. There are some really nice people in the organization to work with, but you have to find them.

Cons

If you are not part of the SWC "club" (company name prior to them joining BDO), good luck. Poor leadership!!! Practice lead talks to everyone like they are talking to a CEO, not relatable in most cases. No clear employee development plans. You are held accountable for things completely outside of your individual control. They stress incorporating AI into work strategy, but have no plan on what that looks like or how to do it and want everyone to formulate it because leadership has no roadmap. One has no control over where you want to take your career, yet you are expected to know everything, about everything. As a result, you become an expert of nothing! Work assigned rarely leverages skills, almost as if they throw darts to see who works on what.
