Pros

They pay more than most other agencies in the area for similar work, at least for middle management positions.

Cons

Salaried staff are expected to work 60+ hours a week. Work environment was high stress and very toxic--coworkers acted like a bunch of middle schoolers who would rather play "mean girls" than actually do their jobs. Don't pay direct line staff enough to retain them long term resulting in lots of turnover and more work for managing staff on top of other duties. Leadership is a joke, many are less educated than the staff they supervise and throw managing staff under the bus in difficult situations.

Pros

Continued opportunities to grow. As a non-profit it also means that these positions aren't always visible, but instead are opened as the agency grows and needs support in different ways.

Cons

Sometimes the stress of the impact we can have is a lot, not a con for Balance Autism, but a good reminder about the Human Service field. Thinking about how we support ourselves in good stress management is important, but also seeking out others (in and outside the organization) for this is support is also ideal.
