Pros

location in golden square, london

Cons

if you’re a software engineer thinking of joining this company, seriously think again there is no direction. None. priorities change overnight, sometimes within hours, and you’re expected to just keep up. there are no real processes in place, so everything feels disorganised and reactive. you’re constantly firefighting instead of actually building anything meaningful management is where it really goes wrong. Blame is the only culture here. no matter what happens, it somehow lands on the engineers. you’ll be made to feel incompetent, even when the root cause is poor leadership. the engineering manager creates a constant atmosphere of bullying, stress and anxiety that wears people down over time What makes it worse is that senior leadership fully protects this behaviour. there’s no accountability, no support, and no sign that anything will ever improve And if you think HR will help, don’t count on it. You’ll just be told to go speak to the same toxic boss 😀 Honestly, unless you enjoy working under pressure, confusion, and constant blame, stay far away

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your time with Bauer Media Group felt challenging and that you left with these impressions. We know that clear direction, supportive leadership, and respectful working environments are essential, particularly within engineering teams, and it’s disappointing to hear that this wasn’t your experience. Over the past few years, we have been actively reviewing how our engineering teams are supported, including leadership practices, prioritisation, and internal processes, with an increased focus on clarity, accountability, and open communication. While change doesn’t happen overnight, we are committed to continuous improvement. We appreciate all feedback, including criticism, as it helps us reflect and grow as an organisation. We don’t want any employee to feel blamed, bullied, or discouraged from raising concerns, and we are continuing to strengthen the ways people can speak up and be heard. We wish you all the best in your next chapter and thank you for your contributions during your time with us.

Pros

Decent opportunities to advance, great people

Cons

Literally no mentorship at all. No interest in helping freelancers transition into full-time, negligent laissez-faire remote-work style management before it was cool
