Pros

- Very smart and kind coworkers - Super interesting challenges on the engineering side (not saying that it's not interesting elsewhere - just don't know) - Lots of mentorship - Lots of ownership. When you get a project you get to design it, plan it, build it, and ship it, and you understand how it fits with the overall system. But don't let this scare you. This was my first real job, and I got plenty of support when I didn't know how to do something. Also I don't mean to imply that you do it all yourself - you do often work on teams, it's just that you never feel like you're just doing a tiny section of a project. - Very flat structure. Leadership is super chill and they listen to anyone who has an idea. When I first started here it was about 15 people and I spent a lot of time talking with the CEO (who is an amazing guy). Now that it's bigger (around 60 ppl) you obviously won't be spending an hour a day with him, but all the leadership is very available. - They work with you on your career goals. I've told them about my long term plans and they have helped me develop the skills that I want to earn at this phase of my career. - Great work / life balance. I usually work about 40 hours a week. There's unlimited vacation and I took about 20 days last year. I work from home at least a day a week. Basically if you get your work done, you're good. - Really accommodating and reasonable about personal stuff. I've had health stuff (insomnia) come up and cause me to be late to work or just be tired during the day and my boss (the CTO at the time - I only mention that to show that this attitude goes to the top) was extremely nice about it. Basically the message was always for me to put my health first. - Very competitive comp, both in terms of salary and equity. I regularly recommend this place STRONGLY to my close friends. And I would do so even if there weren't a recruiting bonus ;). It really is the best job I've ever had and I'm so happy I landed here.

Cons

- Fewer of the crazy benefits that you get at a big tech company. Personally I don't think that stuff matters too much, but some people do.

Pros

I've had a fair number of jobs and can confidently say the caliber of the team and health of the culture at Beeswax are at least as good as any place I've been. The founders are all very knowledgeable and capable, and yet very open to everyone's input; I've come to realize that they are subtly quite gifted managers and that is Beeswax' secret weapon. Authority is clear, yet the org is flat and we all have a voice, ownership and autonomy. Accountability and responsibility are clear, yet we all have fun. The core values are being helpful to each other, being valuable to the business and delivering for our customers. This is the way it should be, but very rarely is. Grown up. No BS. Seriously.

Cons

- The company has grown fast and so has the scale of the platform. Engineers must navigate the expected tensions of keeping the platform running and scaling vs. evolving the product. - The company is deeply committed to AWS. This is in general provides huge leverage, but I believe we could benefit from sometimes giving more consideration to non-AWS alternatives - Agree with other post that the office can get noisy, but it ebbs and flows
