Pros

Pay isn't bad Support is good Kids are the best Decent lesson plans, though you need some time to prepare. Most prep I do is for Playgroup which has two songs/dances a lesson. They have directions on how to do dances but they can be a little boring sometimes so you can make your own dance if you want. I feel like the company does try to work with you on issues and offers trainings and workshops. During COVID-19 we're doing our best to make sure everyone is safe and taking precautions to reduce the risk of infections. It is a little bit of a challenge but so far it has not been so bad.

Cons

Depending on your schedule you could have classes back to back with barely a moment to catch your breath before the next class starts. Though, you could run to the bathroom real quick. You can have HUGE gaps between classes. You could have one class early in the morning and then have a 4+ hour break until the next one. For me it is a con because I can't go anywhere else as the trains only run twice an hour and if I left I would be late for my next classes. If you're full time you can be sent all around the Kansai area. Though if you're unsure of how to get somewhere they will do their best to help you. They want you to work even if you're sick or feverish or injured. I've injured my knee before and was told that I should go in and that I could use a chair.

Pros

They provide good training and support to instructors. Pay is average for the role. Lesson plans are provided, which can be good or bad. Good locations and HQ is approachable. I would be happy to work for them again.

Cons

You will likely be alone at your plaza, with only your Japanese Lesson Partner. The company is big, but spread out. No coworkers to bond with.

Pros

Nice staff and colleagues. Working with kids is fun.

Cons

No bonuses or incentives of any kind. Salary is capped at ¥250,000/month with no possibility of further raises, regardless of experience or performance. Workload is disproportionate to the pay — long commutes are common, and staff are sometimes sent as far as Nagoya to cover for absent teachers at short notice.
