Pros
Great teamwork on most units and learned a lot. Flexible work schedule for the most part.
Cons
Pay is not that great; didn't get a raise until over two years after I started working there. Got hired in at a certain rate (Corpus is considerably lower than national average), but found out other new grads were getting hired in at a couple more dollars an hour. As an experienced nurse, it was discouraging to find out that loyal, experienced employees were not getting paid at least the going rate or more. Upper management requires more and more of employees and does not compensate accordingly. They need to do more to retain their loyal employees as there were high turnover rates at times. I have also seen that they are trying to recruit from other cities and states, and are offering a ton more (even bonuses) money than what they pay their current employees. If you can get hired in from that angle, then that's the way to go. I would only recommend this job to a friend because most of the employees are awesome.
