Pros

You are exposed to some very big name companies within the CPG industry and it's a great place to learn a lot of industry knowledge. The corporate office used to have a very community and family like atmosphere but this has diminished with the higher turnover.

Cons

Training programs and materials for corporate based positions are poor to non-existent. They have an excellent training department but the majority of their materials are created for field based positions. Overall compensation for salaried employees can be poor for the number of hours worked Salary ranges for a position vary widely and are kept very quiet. If your are promoted from within, you will be given a percentage raise that in some cases will not put you into even the bottom of the salary range for your new position. Bonuses are rare, small and can be denied if your division is collapsed regardless of your performance or the overall performance of the division. Advancement opportunities have all but vanished unless you are part of the managment training program consisting primarily of recent college graduates.

Cons

an honest example of your day, we will pay you for 15 minutes to run up to a Walmart. For that 15 minutes we will expect you to read instructions for any new changes, run in and check in with a manager, find our product, count our products exactly, go to the back room and find our products (which is by far the longest step), count our products in the back exactly, bring our products to the front of the store, take pictures and answer questions, remove all old products, stock by date, take pictures and answer questions. If this takes you 25-30 minutes, which is probably a more accurate accounting, we will still only pay you for 15. If you are lucky there may be another job that day, but if not you will be expected to waste your gas, drive to the Walmart that we demanded, and work that 15 minute job alone. In that case we will be demanding that you take an hour out of your day for $3.00.
