Pros
- Relatively easy and straightforward once you know what you are doing - Most employees and managers have been a joy to work with all throughout NC - Medium pace retail environment unless in very busy store - Pay is decent, the raises are small but consistent (every year) - The discount is nice, but most items are overpriced to hell anyway - Some of the customers are damn funny
Cons
- They keep piling new things onto employees year after year, such as the new Ship from Store system, but not giving any stores extra hours to do the core tasks with the new overhead - They take a yearly survey and do nearly nothing with the information besides make the most basic changes to the store each year - The warehouse organization is terrible, truck deliveries need to be re-sorted every delivery so that they can be efficiently put out - Very wasteful company, the tools given to you for printing new labels end up wasting most of the sheet without a way to use what's left. A decent chunk of the plastic sales tags that get sent for the new sale week get tossed as it negatively affects customer-item-visibility too strongly. - Unless you are becoming a store manager, the upward movement is terrible. They claim there are corporate opportunities once you work as a clerk/manager but no district leader has any idea about how to proceed with such things. - Hours at a lot of store are horrendous (7am-11pm on average), even the stores operating from 8am-10pm can destroy much work-life-balance as you are randomly scheduled depending on what is needed each week. You work weekends, and are expected to work holidays.
