Pros

I have worked with some incredible people and made lasting friendships during my many years with the company. My team was full of rock stars. I also enjoyed the charity work we got to participate in and Im happy with all the Conn’s Cares endeavors.

Cons

Culture: Leading by fear, lacking trust in loyal employees, overworking instead of hiring additional resources during growth, very serious atmosphere - if you are smiling or laughing you are surely not working type of feeling, to name a few. The biggest personal issue for my department was a CMO who created a profoundly toxic work environment for an entire team for 4 years with little repercussions from HR. The team is still working to recover from her incompetence but has a much better CMO in place now. Communication: There has always been a noticeable lack of transparency on things that are happening. Often treated like children when it comes to information - things are hush hush, rumors swirl, and finally information is divulged from leadership unwillingly at the last minute for anything remotely uncomfortable. Greed: Honestly, it would be naive to say retail companies in general aren’t all about making money. Conn’s execs are just extra dirty when it comes to the greed. I’ve been through 3 CEOs and something about the leadership this company attracts is so very discouraging.
