Pros

If you want to learn office politics, here is the right place!

Cons

****First, beware of some fake reviews, when you see 16 positive ratings suddenly show up within one week ( 7 Jun, 2017 - 13 Jun, 2017 ), you know this company is manipulating and hiding something. ***** 1) No work and life balance. I known some editors work over 12 hours a day and even the weekends on very short notice. 2) No respect for your profession. You will be asked to do tasks which have nothing to do with your role you were hired for. 3) Very Low employee retention. Half of my team members left within a year. 4) Non-existent job training. Since the employee retention in this company is the lowest i've ever encountered, the handover process is a joke. You are handed a bunch of documents left by the previous employee and then you are on your own. 4) Pathetic holiday system. Only 10 days a year and if the holiday falls on a weekend then it is your bad luck because you will lose that day off and neither will you get compensated for it. 5) Ridiculous punch-in-and-punch-out system. You need to sign out everytime you leave the immediate office room. So filling up your water bottle, Getting tea/coffee/lunch from the office kitchen or even going to the washroom are considered as out of office activities. In spite of having mind-boggling feature of employees needing to check in/out within the office space itself, their system doesn't show you how much time you were "out" for. So basically you need a stopwatch every time you leave your desk and walk 5 meters to the office kitchen. 6) There are only 2 female washrooms in the first floor (around 100 employees on the floor) so you always have to spend some time waiting in line, which, as i mentioned above, is time counted as you are not working. 7) Finally, if you bring any of these issues up with HR, they are unsympathetic, condescending and very obviously they only listen to upper management.

Pros

For the past ten years, Enago has steadily provided the majority of my income. They consistently send me interesting work. Sometimes the deadlines are tight, but I always have the option to refuse without penalty. The project management staff is responsive (available through chat). Payment is regular and transparent, and there is an incentive system to reward consistency and error-free work.

Cons

Recently, the workload has become less steady, likely due to changes in the industry globally. If you your edits to a paper amount to less than 10% (or 20%, depending on the service) of the final document, it is sent back to you to make up the difference. Naturally, this encourages the editor to make unnecessary changes to meet the minimum threshold. Sometimes quality reviewers make errors, either misapplying rules of English or through ignorance of what makes for proper academic English. However, they are open to discussion when challenged.
