Pros
- Compensation is competitive across most departments - People are generally kind and competent - The work is engaging - Opportunity to work with some exceptionally talented individuals
Cons
- Senior leadership is lacking, especially on the product side - The technology stack itself is impressive, but that has yet to manifest to product differentiation from Chime, Cash App, or even big banks - Product org is quickly shrinking because the heads (PM and design) are extremely difficult to work with - It seems these people stay in positions of power at the company due to their personal friendship with the founder - They did a small round of layoffs and weren’t about to pay out most cash bonuses this year. This is not too surprising given the market conditions, but ideally they would treat department heads with the same accountability as the individual contributors.
