Pros

Can somewhat set own hours and work independently to get the job done.

Cons

The job of Admin Assistant is not one I would accept again. Despite a "role profile" and pay of a secretarial position, I find myself doing ALL HR, Payroll, A/P, purchasing, accounting, invoicing, asset management and problem solving for the entire site. Everyone is your boss in this position and you have them coming at you from all directions. The job title is demeaning and the pay is insulting compared to your actual duties. Add to that the fact that Exel has the most primitive accounting system I've see in 20 years even among small companies. They have 5 or 6 separate software programs feeding into that horrible monster Oracle and it's huge mess. The dependence on spreadsheets is ridiculous for a company this size. The corporate office is incredibly hostile to work with-they definitely aren't there to help. A/P and IT are they worst. PR are usually at least polite. Now I know why the previous Admins walked off this job. This particular position is not al all what the job description says and you will have everything dumped on ou.y

Pros

Good money for the amount of hours worked

Cons

Micro managed even though you’re not in the same state. Management is terrible and the union is no help to there employees, geared more toward employer.
