Pros
Freedom to work outside the office. Great peers and employees. People at my level and below really care about the customer and their jobs. Nice flex schedule, 4 days on 3 days off.
Cons
Upper management is reactionary, clueless about what happens in the field. Sets direction and policy by snapshot visits to the field, have never done the job that my people do but act in intiating direction without thought of what the effect on field people is. Shotgun approach to problems rather than pinpoint the issue. Every day your job is threatened, and that is directly. A common statement is leave your tolls and move on. Field service managers are required to work 6 am until all techs are back. 14 to 16 hour days are the norm. You do not have a chance for a life outside of work.
