Pros
Can be a good place to get promoted (for some), relatively few layoffs and standard benefits and 401k, etc.
Cons
Dish is an old school company that is struggling to stay relevant. Dish recently became a wireless company and that is where all the focus is now. I would not join the Dish or Sling parts of the business because they have no real direction anymore and no one in leadership really cares about these parts of the business. The biggest con though is how Dish treats employees. Since the start of this year Dish has faced unprecedented turnover because to put it simply, no one wants to work here anymore. Dish has always treated employees like children with badge reports that get sent up to leadership if you clock in past 9am (at corporate) and having 20% of your yearly performance appraisal based on how much you fit into company culture which as a leader I can tell you amounts to how many hours you’re in the building and how much senior leadership likes you. Dish forced employees back after COVID way before most companies with little regard to safety or employee’s concerns and has refused to consider permanent work from home or hybrid schedules. Because of this and so many other things we are losing employees daily. Company response has been that anyone leaving is a “poor culture fit” which is Dish’s response to any opinion they disagree with. Overall Dish is a toxic place filled with gossip and politics where senior leadership asks for lots of feedback but will in fact make zero changes unless it involves more free snacks. Dish may seem like a good place to grow a career but it will crush your spirit if you stay too long.
