Pros

Opportunities for professional growth, including continuing education and leadership experience for those interested. Decent compensation and benefits but do not let this fool you! Work-life balance can be achievable, depending on the Facility Administrator and overall team culture. A supportive team and strong leadership can make the clinic environment positive and sustainable.

Cons

I would not broadly recommend DaVita as an employer. However, if you are considering a position, make sure to interview in person and carefully evaluate the culture of the specific clinic. A genuine Facility Administrator and a supportive, cohesive team can make all the difference in your experience. Over time, the role shifted significantly toward administrative work and documentation, with less focus on direct patient care. The emphasis was placed heavily on meeting numbers and outcomes, often without regard to the process or quality of care. Leadership style at some clinics created a culture of pressure and fear, where staff felt their hours or positions could be at risk if performance targets weren’t met. Work life balance varied greatly depending on the Facility Administrator and team culture, some clinics offered supportive environments, while others felt unsustainable. Concerns raised by staff were not always addressed, which could be discouraging. Many physicians expressed frustration with company practices, and some transitioned patients to other organizations. Leadership training often emphasized company culture and performance framing, but in practice, it didn’t always align with addressing the systemic challenges staff faced. Ultimately, leaving the company was the best decision for my own growth, mental health, and professional integrity.

Pros

Stable company to work for with great benefits. DaVita offers tuition reimbursement, so it pays to go back to school and get a degree. They also help with career advancement and development.

Cons

If you are new to dialysis, it may take a while to reach a decent wage. You are required to work 12 hour shifts, mostly on your feet, and managers will always look to add to your workload.

Pros

Patient connections is rewarding work, great hands on experience, paid on the job training, training for PCTs is at least consistent.

Cons

12+ hour long hours, emotionally and physically taxing, unqualified management, poor communication, inconsistent scheduling, high turn over, very little amount of opportunity for movement within the company despite preaching that they encourage it. The culture and values are heavily spoken about with little to no enforcement. The position requires significant dedication to learn all the moving parts of the clinic.
