The culture is toxic at its core. A trend of cronyism where hiring is from the same pool of friends and former colleagues ensures that this will not change. While anyone working for a startup should expect a fast pace and long hours, there are no health work/life boundaries at Devoted. Employees are expected to answer Slack messages and texts during evenings and on weekends even when dealing with personal/family crises. If you are new to the organization and do not blindly follow directions, you should expect to be treated with open distrust and disdain. There is rampant gossip amongst various teams that is encouraged and fostered by the leadership of specific teams. Leaders are selected based on how they can operationalize not on industry expertise which highlights the fact that Devoted is about the making money over getting it right. Inexperienced leaders then use gaslighting and stonewalling techniques to take the spotlight off their poor leadership. They change direction multiple times a week depending on where they are getting pressured from. This combination of traits keeps employees in a constant state of fight or flight. Advice to those considering Working for Devoted: Beware of the inflated Glassdoor ratings. Look back at the flurry of positive reviews that happened at the end of 2021. This was a deliberate effort by Devoted leadership and HR to boost the ratings that had slipped dramatically in 2021. All managers were “encouraged” to add positive reviews to boost Glass Door ratings to attract new candidates.
