Pros

The founder, Dean, is a stand-up person and I stayed as long as I did because of his vision and values. Those two things, however, get very lost in the corporate structure and never make it to the store level.

Cons

The turnover rates in this company, at least for leadership positions, are very high for good reasons: the impossible to achieve expectations, total lack of support for smaller stores without swim programs, complete disrespect for their full-time employee's family life and time, and "more more more more more" mindset when it comes to the demands of leadership roles. They will push you until you resent all the reasons you were passionate about scuba in the first place. They will give you impossible to achieve budget goals and then withhold the bonuses you were promised when you were hired. They will say whatever it takes to get you to sacrifice every bit of your time, energy, and passion, but you will never get anything in return.

Diventures Response

Hello - We appreciate the honest feedback as we are always trying to improve and want Diventures to be a great place to work – for both part-time instructors and for full-time team members, including those in management and leadership roles. We have launched a lot of new initiatives over the last few years, with the goal of sharing Dean's vision and our passion for the underwater world with more people. We recognize each one takes additional time and resources, and weighs on the team. All this makes finding the ideal team structure for each store so important. We’re getting closer to being fully-staffed, but admit that hasn't been the case in several of our locations. Our turnover is down the last couple years and we will continue to invest back in our people. New programs like the Manager In Training (MIT) Program will be expanded next year to help grow our current and future leaders. We are grateful for your 3 years with Diventures. If you want to share anything else, please send me a note at jessica.jarosh@diventures.com. Thank you. Jessica J. Chief Administrative & Marketing Officer
