Pros

Customers team environment small stores easy to work in depending on layout

Cons

DMs dont praise good work or even improved work, they only focus on the negatives. DMs treat managers different from store to store instead of equally. They take family issues as an excuse of duties not getting done in one store but not for another. RMs come in maybe once every few months and if on that first visit they dont like the store you better start looking for another job. Instead of them trying to help and find out whats going on, which in my store the day he had come in I had a call in and nobody would come in. I had a call that the RM would be in that day. I did my best to run register take care of customers and keep store cleaned up. Not good enough. First, he didnt get to my store until around 5pm after the day I had trying to get things done with nobody else in the store my shift was over and I left. RM didnt like that. I was terminated a month later.

Pros

- The people I work with are amazing (not every DG is like that... in fact, few are.) - We are proud of our DG and we all work hard as a team to make sure our customers are happy and smiling. - I take pride in my customer service skills. I have people drive past 2-3 DGs just to come to mine, because they know my team and I will take care of them. - We have developed great relationships with the customers. I have even made some great friends. - You are never bored. There is always something to do. - The 401k has a decent match rate.

Cons

- There are not enough hours to get done with what DG Cooperate requires. - We work fast and hard, and we still cannot get done what they require - we just aren't allowed enough people and hours. - We all have great work ethic. We work very hard. We still cannot get it all done. We ask for more hours. We are usually denied. - Pay isn't good. It just isn't. - They say people are their priority, but they work their employees to the bone, and don't let them have help. - My boss probably evens out to making like $2/hour. Shes salary. She cares about her store. DG abuses the salary. What they ask her to do, she cannot physically get done, even if she divided herself into 3 people. I'd NEVER accept salary at DG. Never. - It is not a lazy problem or a scheduling problem. None of us are lazy. We are very hard workers. We push truck fast, keep customers happy. We were voted best store West of the Mississippi (we're in Oklahoma). We tell cooperate the negatives and what needs to change. They don't care and nothing ever changes.
