Thank you for sharing your perspective—we appreciate your honesty and the time you took to provide feedback. While we’re glad to hear aspects of the workload have felt manageable, we also recognize your concerns around management, benefits, and the balance between customer service and clinical care. As a partner to public school districts, we strive to balance strong district relationships with our commitment to clinical excellence. We're actively working to enhance the clinician experience through stronger regional support, improved benefits, and clearer communication around contracts. PTO and work-life balance remain key areas of focus. In addition to annual PTO, tenured staff receive additional time off. Clinicians are paid full-time during school closures—including winter break and holidays—and during the summer, work reduced hours while maintaining full pay, with several weeks off entirely for rest and recharge. Your feedback helps guide our continued growth. If you're open to a conversation, we’d welcome the opportunity to learn more about your experience. Thank you again for your dedication to supporting students.

Pros

-Great work/life balance with school schedule -administration cares about their employees and listens to their needs by doing check ins and surveys, and they follow through. -networking and collaboration with other clinicians throughout different states -clinical supervision is available for hours -supervisors are extremely helpful and do not have issues getting in contact when an emergent need arises

Cons

I cannot think of any at this time.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for your thoughtful feedback. We’re so glad to hear that your role as a Lead Clinician has been rewarding. It’s wonderful to know that the work/life balance, accessible supervision, collaborative culture, and leadership support have made a positive impact. We’re especially glad that our check-ins and surveys feel meaningful and that you’ve seen follow-through on what matters most. Thank you for all that you do for your students and for being a valued part of the ESS team.

Pros

I have been with ESS for the last 5 years and it has been a pleasure. I have been able to do lots of meaningful work with children in schools and have been given opportunities to grow by my wonderful supervisors. The intensive therapy that ESS does is not an inherently easy job, but I have felt very supported by my supervisors.

Cons

As with every company there are things that get rolled out without good consultation of the actual working conditions and implementations, especially as a therapist in California working with a company headquartered on the East Coast. That being said, my supervisors have always done what they can to smooth over transitions and support me in finding the best path forward to managing my workload and new expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review, and for your 5 years of dedication to ESS. We’re especially grateful for the impact you’ve made in supporting students through this meaningful and often complex work. We also really appreciate your candid feedback around communication and the rollout of company-wide initiatives. You’re absolutely right that implementation can feel different across regions, especially in states like California with unique requirements and working conditions. Creating stronger feedback loops and ensuring that perspectives from clinicians in the field are heard before and during rollout is an area we’re actively working to improve. It’s encouraging to hear that your regional leadership has been responsive and supportive in navigating these changes, and we’ll continue working to better align communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization. Thank you again for your commitment to ESS and for sharing insights that help us continue to grow.
