Pros

Very few if any besides, there are some very great people who work here, they are just in an unfortunate situation.

Cons

I have lost faith in the corporate management team (especially the new group) over time. Was exciting when they first came, but has eroded quickly over time. The people and culture aspect is literally non-existent. I don't think anyone in the company besides executive leadership team has even seen our EVP of HR, especially through all the recent crisis (COVID and diversity). We sit on calls where executive management talks about getting paid out insurance claims and an influx of investment from our owners, Onex, yet our sales people who made sales for the first quarter shows still cannot get an answer on if they will get paid commissions on sales that were made months ago and Emerald still holds on to the money. Then all the other big players in the event industry have committed to taking pay cuts for the senior management to try to preserve their hard working staff, do you know what the response to that question on the Emerald earnings call “Corporate Management costs are fixed” = contracts. Just so sad in a time like this and extremely disheartening. No clear strategic direction at all and if there is an attempt to do so it is so rushed there is very little time to think through it. And there is NO team work - there is an attempt but at every turn it is every one for themselves.

Pros

-Depending on what team you're on, you get a lot of autonomy. (on the flip side, see con- if you're on the wrong team) -Good benefits -Fun events & Travel opportunities

Cons

-People getting laid off left and right all time. One minute you have a team mate and the next they are just gone. -Management is top heavy and operates like a fraternity -If you're on the wrong team every move is watched -Your job is NEVER safe -Imagine with the acquisition that was just announced by Apollo that the reason for layoffs was to become lean before transition. I would hedge bets that this will also continue to be a numbers game and positions are going to be uncertain -Sales plans are always ambiguous and there were even times where the plan wasn't out until several months into the year. Expected to sell over and above but didn't always have a sales plan to follow. It was always changing.
