Where to begin?
1. First off, the pay is low for the Valley. Most people only get base salary. Only directors and above get a bonus. They try to sell to sell you on that we’re a rocket ship and we’ll have an IPO soon. In 2019, they were saying for an IPO to be in 2020, which was a joke (which I figured right away), since we didn’t even meet our bookings target for 2019. Then, once we got into the second half of 2019, it was changed to 2021. That’s not going to happen either.
2. If you want to be subject to harassment or discrimination, then come here. I’ve seen it happen in my department near me. With one person, a male employee, it was sexism, as he yelled in front of everyone at another female employee and would repeatedly delay or not want to help out any of his female teammates. And, his manager did nothing about it. HR was aware, but did nothing to fire the people involved either. I can’t go into more details here, but explain how six people in the same department all quit or were fired around the same time in late 2019?
3. The company isn’t flexible, when it comes to working from home or a remote situation. I’ve heard from HR and others that a few different leaders don’t believe in working from home. That was before the current pandemic. And now with the current COVID-19 pandemic, it’s absolutely shocking that they want us back in the office in August! I guess they have so much money that they’re not afraid of lawsuit, if someone contracts it at the office (/s)! It’s absolutely ridiculous, considering that basically all tech companies in the Valley have either adopted a WFH policy until there is a vaccine and/or reliable therapy available (which will realistically not happen until 2021) or have made permanent WFH policy changes, since they see the benefits to both the company and its employees. It’s obvious the executives don’t care about the well-being of their employees!
