Pros

Good caring team members, always willing to help when needed. No work on Sundays. Same work Days. OT opportunities. Reimbursements for gas.

Cons

Listen, when I started this job I was excited, ready to do whatever to be the best. Training: Training could of defiantly been better, after months of working on my own. I am starting to learn there was A LOT, I missed out on, almost seems like being at a disadvantage. When problems arise there is a finger in your face, asking you why you didn't do this correctly. When realistically it came from not being taught correctly the first time or at all. It makes your job 100 times harder when you have to learn something on the spot. It's not fair for someone to feel like they are failing, when they don't know. Work expectations: I don't even know where to start with this one. You are literally, a maintenance man, janitor, a sales man, security, and a office representative. The workload for this job depending where your store is at in terms of progress. Is super unrealistic especially if you are the only person working the site. I have went home with massive headaches, stressing over the expectations of this job that had been put on me at the time. Even curranty there is always a massive "bag" of work, goals, kpi, auctions, google reviews, ect. Hanging over your head, you would like to be able to choose which project or situation seems more dire. But in reality it all needs to be accomplished at once. Or in a very short period of time. Pay: Pay needs to be matching the amount of work that is being put on an employee. Not getting paid enough to do massive amounts of work is frustrating in itself. Promises: Promises coming from management need to be handled more professionally, especially when it effects your life outside of work. Or your bills/money. This is a company that's defiantly not lacking in recourses. It's not fair to give hope on a situation that always seems to be getting put off. Currently I still would like to give things a chance, but I am a human with needs and a life outside of my job. If not I have to take care of myself and my mental health. People are not machines, times are hard in our world right now.

Pros

"Working at Extra Space Storage has been a highly positive experience overall. The company culture genuinely prioritizes work-life balance, providing predictable schedules and stable hours that are hard to find in retail environments. The benefits package is excellent, featuring a great 401(k) match, reliable health insurance, and helpful performance bonuses. Managers generally offer a lot of autonomy.

Cons

The only downside is that career advancement and regular merit raises can feel a bit limited, often depending heavily on your specific district manager and region. If you value independence, steady hours, and strong corporate support, it is a fantastic place to build a career."

Pros

Solid schedule - 40 hours per week, not expected to be there more than that. No one looking over your shoulder constantly (unless you have a new DM, they can't seem to help it) Mostly great people to work with Local, immediate management does care and are helpful.

Cons

Very large rate increases really upset customers and that's just too bad. We are given word to tell them but it just isn't true. Putting more money in stock holder's pockets is the bottom line and it doesn't matter how much anger we have to deal with. You are absolutely expected to sell insurance to every renter. However, you must be careful because you aren't "insurance salesmen". You get a ding when you don't sell it. We are encouraged to use evasive language and rush through it so the renter thinks it's required without quite saying so. You would think this large of a corporation would have handymen available but it is so, so difficult to get the smallest repair done due to getting bids from vendors, turning them in, reminding the person you turned them in to what needs done maybe getting approval, then scheduling. By that time lights (or whatever) have been out for a month or 2. Benefits are very expensive and cover so little.
