Pros
Beautiful property and strong brand recognition. Some team members were professional and hardworking, and the hotel itself has potential to provide a great work environment if management focused more on teamwork, fair treatment, and proper employee development.
Cons
My experience as a new employee at Cana Restaurant was disappointing and far from the “inclusive” environment the company promotes. There was a noticeable sense of favoritism among employees who had been there for years, creating an atmosphere where new hires felt isolated rather than welcomed into a team.
Instead of receiving proper guidance and support during training, most of the physically demanding work was constantly pushed onto me as the newest employee. The environment often felt more like a clique than a professional team. Communication and management were weak, and there was very little effort made to help new employees improve or succeed.
I was never given constructive feedback, coaching, or proper training on how to meet expectations. I was simply informed, 4 weeks in the position, that I did not pass the probation period without being given a fair opportunity to grow into the role.
Another issue was the expectation of carrying oversized and extremely heavy trays, something that was never clearly explained in the job description. Balancing overweight trays with one hand while opening curtains and doors in busy areas created unnecessary physical strain and safety concerns.
The job itself was not difficult, but the lack of teamwork, professionalism, and fair leadership made the experience unnecessarily stressful. Unfortunately, I left feeling that seniority and internal favoritism mattered more than employee growth, inclusion, or respect.
