Pros

Staff discount was good, I could get a fairly decent shop for around £20

Cons

Farmfoods manages to stay cheap by employing as few people as possible to work as many hours as possible. Management consistently have to work well over their contracted hours in order to cover absences, and there is no appreciation or thanks from higher ups or even overtime pay, and this is before going into the obvious impact on your social life. Nothing is done about staff absences, serial offenders aren't even disciplined. Stocktakes take place every two or three weeks, always on a Saturday night after the store has closed, and are mandatory for all staff. Theft is a huge problem, as the stores are easy targets for shoplifters. Staff members who are on the till are expected to give the customer the best possible service while simultaneously watching potential shoplifters on the shop floor, a near impossible task. Area managers seem to suffer from that age old problem of being promoted from stores and forgetting everything about how things actually work on the shop floor, expecting everything to be perfect and constantly giving out conflicting directions on how best to run your stores.

Pros

15% discount Nothing else is a pro

Cons

Micro management I’ve never experienced in 10 years of retail management. They’re living in the stone ages in terms of technology. Hourly staff get paid to 15 mins so upper management will try and shaft your pay in the name of prod, no clock in/out machine so you’re reliant on managers clocking you accurately. Everything they do is just weird and backwards. They don’t believe in employee law, 11 hour rest period being the big one.
