Pros

The benefits are pretty good compared to other companies. The insurance is good. The pension has been changed twice in the last five years, but at least we have one. If you are in the field you have a great opportunity to satisfy your customers. You can build relationships and run your job like it is your own business. There is a no layoff policy, although it is not written in stone. The senior mgmnt. is invisible to people in the field. There is no one looking over your shoulder when you do your job. If you are a courier you are outside most of the time.

Cons

This is a two tiered company. Management vs. hourlies. The frontline employees are viewed with utter contempt. The managers micromanage everything. The managers are kool-aid drinkers and many believe anything upper management tells them even when it makes no sense. The benefits have slowly been whittled away from us. No more profit sharing, no jumpseat benefit, no survivor income benefit, no Individual performance pay. If you have surgery and go out on disability you get five sick pay days and then you have to go on STD. The vendor for Fedex treats you like a criminal. Fedex chooses the low cost provider for benefits.

Pros

Easy to apply, fast to get hired (no interview process) and the pay

Cons

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
