Pros

The Nairobi operation is domiciled in Nairobi, with a lean outfit and an outsourced operator for pick up and delivery. FedEx operations in Nairobi are female-led, on the most part of core operations. On the operations hierarchy in the larger MEISA region, the Nairobi operation is GSP regulated with once-per-week FedEx flights to Nairobi, which has offered opportunity for businesses to access affordability offered by FedEx in Nairobi. The operational staff have autonomy and a "Well meaning" management, providing the basic minimums of employee benefits.

Cons

The operation in Nairobi currently isn't deemed profit-making in the larger region of FedEx operations in Africa and the Middle-East. Therefore, the Nairobi staff receive minimal benefits in comparison to base offers from other countries in its regions and operational areas. Nairobi's operation has relatively high employee turn. Despite their teams often receiving high-level training, and their personnel being amongst the most skilled in Customer Services, Sales and Air Freight Operations, FedEx forfeits on potential gains from experience of its personnel to competition offering marginal differences in salaries and benefits. With talent misalignment and few spaces in its operation for growth, FedEx is best suited for individuals in it for the experience and systems knowledge (which they have a lot of for operational implementation) but not for long-term overall growth. P.S. The FedEx Tuition Assistance program (T.A.) is scammy, and thus should not be viewed as an employee benefit offered by the company.

Pros

Easy to apply, fast to get hired (no interview process) and the pay

Cons

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
