Pros
Working at Five Guys has been a good professional experience to add to my resume. The coworkers are typically nice people, and the store-level managers have been helpful and willing to teach. My management style and approach has definitely been positively impacted having worked here. The pay for shift managers and up is good ($10+); however, I find it lacking compared to the workload that is put in the managers.
Cons
The workload they out on their managers is high, especially when they deny promotions and raises for well-performing employees. This leads to store-level managers not having the resources available to be successful. The Chicago market has seen a decline in sales over the past few quarters. This is certainly due to the Murrel family's stubbornness on not changing a single thing about their product. Their product is good, but with emerging flavors at competing businesses, they are being deprioritized.
