Pros

Free coffee. Flexible start/stop times. Some opportunity to meet new colleagues that may be able to help you learn your job despite having no job description or training from your manager.

Cons

Poor management, lack of direction, laughable amount of training. Chauvinistic environment. You have to chase your managers for an annual review and in many cases people work there for years without one. No company credit cards and any travel you do that involves your job you have to pay up front and wait a few months to be reimbursed for. Expectation that you join in company meetings / team building exercises on your own time with no compensation or extra time off. They pressure you into doing volunteer work (on your own time) which causes a lot of resentment amongst colleagues. Overall, not a good place to work.

Pros

Good for starting and ending a career in engineering — solid training and plenty of software available. Good benefits and WLB.

Cons

Most projects are PreFEED, so lots of generic work, and they tend to overhire for these projects. It’s hard to make it to the middle ranks here because of the overhiring and layoff on contract loss cycle. The 980 schedule is actually meant to be a 10-hr day, as they began to emphasize the importance of taking lunch. TOWP and sick days are lumped together and earned on an accrued basis, so vacation days are valuable in the beginning. You can be paid your vacation days at the end, too, when your salary is higher… the consequence is that people come in sick all the time.
