A house on fire run by a bully - Client Services Group SJR Employee Review

Pros

None, run for the hills.

Cons

Management regularly bullies employees and if they decide they don't like you they will make your life a living hell. The newly established structure is confusing to say the least and only benefits two types of people: the CEO's pets (those who say YES to everything and bow down to her business destructive decisions) or white males. There is a shocking lack of resource which means people are working the longest hour weeks and under a huge amount of stress. Opportunities to grow, learn and be exposed to new challenges are only reserved for those who the CEO decides (aka the pets). That also goes for promotions and salary rises. The culture is toxic, unhealthy and backstabbing is your every day threat. There is no HR structure at all, which overall makes onboarding a constant fire drill situation and zero support if anything goes wrong (for example, being bullied by the CEO). New management has totally destroyed the values and culture the company built and lived through for years. Finally, the client list is dirty to say the least and they actually do not care about breaching confidentiality or non compete clauses. Literally a joke of a company, run by a bully.

Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback. We’re disappointed to hear about your experience as a former long-term employee of our London office. SJR is and will always be a place that encourages diversity and entrepreneurship. We have a can-do, nimble spirit, and we work hard to help our employees and clients grow. This last year has challenged us all personally, with the pandemic, and professionally, with a recent merger and unprecedented growth. Like many other companies, we’ve had to evolve to meet a new business reality. We recognize recent changes have been difficult for some of our employees to adapt to, particularly those who are used to “the old days”. As we add new clients and welcome new employees into the team, we have introduced new processes to support us all through hybrid working and to create even more opportunities for career progression inside our firm. While we have much more work to do, we are so proud of our record on gender diversity in the UK, with 65% female line managers, a 57% female leadership team and a 14% overall improvement in the ethnic diversity of our employees in the last six months alone. Once again, thank you. We do value your feedback and we truly wish you all the best with your future endeavours!

Pros

I had a good salary while there.

Cons

Horribly mismanaged, unfortunately. Ever since the leadership team changed in 2020 company revenue has been on downward trajectory. I lost my job in 2024 during their 5th round of layoffs while I was there and heard about 2 additional ones that occurred shortly after. Now, in Q4 2025 they are about to lose their biggest client. Looks like they might be shuttering their doors for good.
